Re: New build for me...
Hi Savage:
Its really weird how similar our systems are, right down to the 120SSD Vertex 2, I am going to get more RAM, I only have 6gbs triple channel set now, but I might buy another set.

Yeah I wish I had the 990X but I got the 980X and The Asus Rampage 3 Extreme for a great price, I just couldnt pass it up, you have 6 gbs more of the exact same RAM, but I might get another 6gb set if needed. The cases are identacle and the Swiftech H20-320 water cooler fits perfectly into the Corair 800D Case, it look as if it were made for that case. LOL.

Re: New build for me...
I really can't say enough about the 800D. It is a fantastic case. Make sure you need the ram before you drop the coin. My rig uses a lot of resources due to inefficient programming of proprietary software that I run for design. While 6 may not do much for your ego, it may be enough. I'd install gadget to monitor your ram usage for a while and if you see you need more, then get some. I think the Rampage III Extreme is just as awesome as they come...powerful, flexible and sexy. I like that combination... :Kewl:
Re: New build for me...
Well, RAM is very cheap right now, even if I do not use it now, I can always use it in the future, I have about 40gbs of great dual channell RAM from other builds in my drawer, so you know I am a pack rat.

Re: New build for me...
LOL..I have enough parts to build a machine or two myself. One of my closest friends has enough parts lying around to build at least 10. He is the biggest pack rat I have ever seen. He also has the most sophisticated network/set-up I have ever seen in residential use. It makes mine look like the amateur hour and I'm hard wired to four locations to stream 1080p from a central server and wireless throughout. He just amazes me...
Re: New build for me...
The replacement Corsair hot swap bay board arrived today. I swapped it out in about 5 minutes and it works! Corsair get's a big thumbs up for the way the handled the situation. I really couldn't have expected any more.
Re: New build for me...
Glad to hear that got sorted out for ya and fairly quickly too.

Re: New build for me...
So I just got a call from Corsair out of the blue...they wanted to make certain that my new board was working and that I was completely satisfied. Are you kidding me? No one does that anymore!!! Huge props for Corsair!!!

Re: New build for me...
So I took apart the rig this morning and did a complete clean out of the system. There is nothing to report! I mean, the water looked clean, nothing growing, nothing blocking...just clean. I'm pretty happy. I did change the water out about 6-8 months ago, but that's it. I didn't clean anything.
I'm happy. I sure miss the feel of this place. If anyone stops in...Hi! I hope you are doing well and think of you all often.

Re: New build for me...
I flushed the rig today...nothing but fluid changes since the day it was put into production. w00t!
Re: New build for me...
I started to get a little clouding in the CPU loop yesterday. So I flushed the water with clean distilled water for about an hour, then flushed with clean distilled water and PT Nuke. Did the video card side as well and cleaned the rads and fans. All is well, rig is STILL performing like a monster.
