30th of April, 2010
Morning folks coffee is ready for the taking. Cloudy but warm here today with rain for the weekend and highs of the mid 20's.
Got some electrical work and 2 blinds to install today so should be an easy day. Hope you all have a great day!

Good morning everyone, I have been playing around with my new cooler and now have my 955 C2 stepping stable at 3.9GHz a new personal best for me with this chip, I wish I had the C3 stepping I'm sure I would be over 4GHz stable now.

Great work mate. :D Yeah looking forward to you getting one too so we can put it to the test :Kewl:
Re: 30th of April, 2010
Sorry to here that the temps are getting the better of ya Steve. I was really hoping that new Elite cooler/chiller would have done a better job for ya? I really though they were the next best thing to a full watter cooled system? :(
I notice that too get that thing to 3.9 you also have the voltage at what I consider very high for that clock. 1.424 volts seems very high to me but I have no experience with the AMD CPU's. Do they all need that much voltage?

Ussuallt no they don't but because of the C2 stepping compared to the C3 it makes the difference, it is still in the safe zone however these chips can handle up to 1.55V. The Elite is the next best thing it is just my chip but like I said I'm going to mod the Elite I have a new water block coming that alone could drop my temps down in to the negative temps by itself. http://www.swiftnets.com/products/mcw6500-T1.asp I got one hell of a deal for it so how could I refuse LOL.

That is a real good result for that chip Steve. Good work. It makes sense to drop the clock slightly. Sort of why i like this @ 3.66ghz on a daily basis. Temps are low and i only use 1.18v :D
But the AMD's always have handled a higher voltage. Not sure how this would effect long term but it seems to be fine for most.
Also Joel the temp max on these processors is only about 62degs i think ( correct me if im wrong Steve ) So with them volts its easy to reach near max levels.
