Re: Good Morning
Thanks for asking. The Doctor said he will treat the tear in stages. First stage was a cortisone shot which he gave me on Friday. Since I am on blood thinners he said surgery is the last resort. I don't know what to expect with the shot, but I really have not noticed any change. It may take some time.

Re: Good Morning
That sounds strangely familiar to "your on your own, bob". I hope it heals correctly and soon.
Re: Good Morning
Thanks but the tear won't heal without surgery. It just depends on whether I can get used to it as is. We will see...

Yes Bob, the cortisone will take some time (a week or so, everyone is different as to how long & how much) to give some effect.

Re: Good Morning
Thanks Steve. He told me everyone is different as to how long it will last but he didn't say anything about when it would kick in. He did say you could not have more than 3 shots a year.

Re: Good Morning
My understanding of Cortisone is that it works like a lubricant. It does not help to heal the damaged area in any way. It does help relieve the pain by lubricating the area affected by injury.
So hopefully you will be able to enjoy the vacation you have coming up Bob!
How about the other leg? Is it getting any better?

Re: Good Morning
Hi Joel, the other leg is fine. It took about 6 weeks to get back to normal and I hope it stays that way.

Yes Bob, cortisone is not good for the bones. Doc's limit the usage cause it can make the bones more brittle.

Re: Good Morning
unless don't remember right my doctor said you couldn't have more than 3 shots in the same spot ever, I have a tear in my right shoulder and have for the last ten years they also refuse to sew it up for some dumb reason, I hope you have a better experience than I did with this Bob good luck.

Re: Good Morning
If it is your rotator cuff, I think you only have a certain window to repair it and then the tissue or something grows over it and makes surgery difficult. 10 years is a long time.
