Pioneer BDR-205 Blu-ray burner

Post by hiro1030 on Tue Oct 26, 2010 9:14 am

Hi everyone!

I picked up a Pioneer BDR-205 Blu-ray burner about a month ago after I read a review @ myce.

http://www.myce.com/review/pioneer-bdr-205-blu-ray-drive-review-22946/Introduction-1/

I also picked up a Vantec NST-530SU eSATA enclosure case to connect the drive with my laptop.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817392031

The reason why I chose the Pioneer BDR-205 is that it reads DVDs fast also as a Blu-ray burner.

The dive has been very solid, fast and quiet.

49% DVD compression took 11 minutes and 1 second using my laptop.

I usually burn BD-Rs @ 6x just to be on the safe side, but the other day I decided to burn @ max.

I used ImgBurn for that session. It had no problems overspeeding this 4x Ridata media to 10x.

The burn speed reached 10x @86%.

Hi Steve! You are welcome & thank you!

I decided to get a Blu-ray burner as Blu-ray discs are coming down in price finally.

Wise! So far I have only bought one RiDATA 15-pack from Newegg. I think it's about $1.30 each. I was a bit nervous when I burned at the first time lol. I burn only for special occasion though.

Thanks for the tip on the burner hiro!
I have not yet jumped on the Blu-Ray wagon either. I am thinking of transfering in all my movies to HD to get rid of all the current clutter of disc's and to slow down on future accumulation...

Since I got my WDTV Live I have been converting all my DVD's to MKV files and putting them on external hard drives. The clutter is almost gone. 100's of titles at your finger tips.
