Best Memory
Hi Guys, I just ordered a AMD 1090T and a Gigabyte GA-890FXA-UD5 motherboard. Can anyone suggest which memory would be best for this combination? Looking for 8G.
Thanks
Thanks

Re: Best Memory
I guess you will be using a 64 bit operating system? If not anything over 4 GB of ram is a waste as the operating system on a 32bit system will only see about 3 gigs if I remember correctly.
If using a 64bit system then I would stick with 6 GB's as you will probably never need more unless you are doing heavy duty graphics editing and or video editing and transcoding at the same time...
6 GB's would save you a little money to spend towards other components!!!

Yes I will be using 64bit Win 7 Ult. With the AMD it would be either 4 or 8 gig and I may start with 4 and add another 4 later or if I can swing it get the 8 now. Just trying to find the best match for CPU & MB.

Re: Best Memory
The ram I'm using now is a new set from PNY and it is the second fastest set we have ever tested the fast set is Kingston these are at 1600MHz. Go to pureoverclock.com and take a look at the review section, you will find everything there you need to make a good decision.

Re: Best Memory
After reading a bunch of posts and reviews on Overclock.net and PureOverclock I ended up ordering 4gb of G Skill RipJaws F3-12800 CL7D-4GBRH. If they work out like I hope I will add another set.
Thanks for the input.

Re: Best Memory
Pictures will have to wait a bit. Just got my tracking info for the memory and instead of shipping from NJ they shipped from CA. So, this weekend is out. Delivery around 7/27.

Re: Best Memory
NewEgg. I get spoiled due to the fact they have a whse here in NJ which is a 1 day zone. But sometimes they have to ship from CA which adds time. No biggie, it gives me more time to clean up my case.

Re: Best Memory
Still waiting for some parts but in the meantime I cleaned up my old case to use, Lian Li PC60APlusII. Old board going to refurb my wife's PC. I had no intention of being a "Modder" but it seems I have no choice. I ordered a Corsair H50 with 2 Noctua P12's for push pull, but the Lian Li case only has an 80mm case fan in the rear. So I have to make that a exhaust and modify the top plate to get the 120mm fans and radiator in place as intake. Glad I still have my dremel tools. It will be a tight fit with the power supply cables but I think I can make it work, waiting on the fans.

Re: Best Memory
Place the h50 at the front of the chassis Bob and use it as an intake, no need to mod the case.

Re: Best Memory
No room in the front. The HD cage sit's right behind the 120mm fan there now with no extra room for radiator and another fan.

I'm envious Bob. I'm wanting to build a unit to OC, but I'll have to wait for $$ to come about. Your build ought to be one heck of a screamer without any OC'ing necessary.

Re: Best Memory
Bob what about a new case that would suit your needs?
I have this case and the cooling aspects of it are awesome!

Or maybe this one. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119232
If you go with a new case you can pass the old one on to the wife...

Both look like great cases but my buget is shot and I have to upgrade the video later. Plus I really like the aluminum case.
