AMD 1090T X6
Today marks the release of AMD's Leo platform, featuring the Phenom II X6 processor and 890FX chipset, and HD5800 series graphic cards. With it specifically comes the Phenom II X6, which is the desktop iteration of the Istanbul chip, and is AMD's fastest desktop chip to date. We look at the 1090T and see how this hex-core performs when stacked up against Intel's Core i7. You may be surprised at the results.

One of the best reviews I have read in a while Logan did one hell of a job OC'ing that chip.

I agree on both counts, the review kept you wanting to read on and for the price nothing on the market can compare... If AMD continue to refine and improve their CPU's as they certainly have with this new edition, future versions will really start to kick ass.
Speaking of that Intel better watch their asses...

Yes they should start to watch there backs, they just can't compete against such a great chip at that price point.

Very great review. Made a fantastic read. I was going to post some myself but this is by far the best and more to the point review. Thanks to those guys at PureOC.
I am happy this chip is doing well. It looks a fantastic investment. For the prices who can complain. This time AMD have pushed right up into i7 territory and lets be honest for the very first time ever. Hats off to them. :Gun2:
I would have to be honest , If i were considering a new build now this ( 1090T ) would be seriously considered. Even though we know how well Intel performs the price for what you get is outstanding. Though as regards to swapping goes , there is absolutely no point. The distance between the current i7 quads and this is marginal. They seem to out stip each other in different areas. Though with two whole extra cores you would demand this for it to be deemed a top cpu.
It will be interesting to see where this goes from here. Intel do have there guns ready ,, with the considerably lower priced six cores to be released next year. We must remember were judging these to current quads. When we see Intels cheaper six cores then we can see the whole picture. its a bit like comparing Duals with HT to Quads. Not the same.
But for now currently , the market has a massive need for this type of processor. I hope this has an impact on Intel to lower there own pricing as things will only getting hotter for them. But being King of the hill for so long you cant help but wonder how Intel will respond. Usually by releasing a brand new extremely powerful platform from current years marketings. Its all interesting and exciting to see.
Game on .....
