Google Chrome Help?
Hey folks I have recently started using Google Chrome as my Browser of choice. I find it loads fast and I have not had an issue yet.
I have looked but cannot find a setting to open links in a new window? Is there any such setting? I know ie and Firefox have this setting. Chrome must have it somewhere? Can someone please help?

Re: Google Chrome Help?
Hi
As it is FF it must have.
FF & Google are one & the same.
Though they & their followers would naturally dispute this.
Based on the same coding basically.
So what one does, the other should do.
If you cleaned out FF like suggested elsewhere you'd find no difference speed wise between them.

Hi
BTW, the folks responsble for forumotion developement use/recommend FF.
They also puts thumbs up for Google & Safari.
As all 3 are based on the same code.
This is no big surprise.

Re: Google Chrome Help?
I am now using Chrome too 4hams. This is an odd one really as there is no definitive setting that changes this. Some standard links around the forum open in a different tab. Its just when using things like the google adverts I get taken elsewhere.
Personally for a long time i have got used to opening things in a different window with the right click button. Though this is not a nice way of doing things.
FF did have this feature. But compared to Chrome its so slow ....
McT

Re: Google Chrome Help?
Ya it is strange that there is no option to set this? Both ie and FF have the option so the user can set it if they want. I realize i can right click and then choose open in new window but as you stated it is a bit of a PITA...
Thanks guys!
The site looks great in ie9!

Well I just downloaded chrome since the beta it does cruise along pretty nice. I'll give it a few days to see how it fairs.

Re: Google Chrome Help?
I have joined the Chrome use club, but only under Linux. It performs faster than Firefox and Flash works better there than in Firefox (under Linux x64). I don't feel safe using it under Windows. Miss my plugins. Chrome does have Adblock, but I need my NoScript and the only thing I can do is turn Java off on a site by site basis. NoScript gives you much better control.

Thanks for that tip SithTracy. And how are you liking Linux? I have not used it in about 10 years since back when it was mostly coding... Now it is pretty much all GUI based. :)

Re: Google Chrome Help?
What makes Linux good is general everyday computer use. Web browsing, casual use of OpenOffice.org. I use MoneyDance (Quicken alternative) to manage my finances... it is avail for all platforms (UNIX, Mac, Win). Boots fast... Windows 7 may be better, but Linux smokes it every time.
There I things I need Windows for so I will be dual booting for some time. I do side jobs to create Photo shows and I need my PhotoDex ProShow for that. Windows only... Have not found an alternative I like more than that.
We'll probably dumb down to one desktop in the house and it will be dual boot to Ubuntu for sure.

Re: Google Chrome Help?
Yes... It's easy for the wife and kids to use when they need to look something up. I've tried a few distros and favor this one. I also prefer GNOME to KDE. Sure, KDE is flashier and more Windows like, I just like to get st*t done.
