But "Free Office Suite" too.

Absolutley right Zebadee and just a further note on that subject as well Open Office is compatible with Microsoft Office ,and Corel ,For instance My Grand daughter just finished a presentation for school with Open Office and the school ran it in MS Office without a hitch .

Been running dual for quite a while between Ubuntu and Windows 7. Overall, I am very happy with Ubuntu with the exception of printing... Getting native support for my Canon photo printer was hard until I found TurboPrint... Sure, it's not free, but solves a problem I had.

Handrbrake performs better on Linux too!!!

Just thought I'd mention that I use (though not very often).
Opensuse 11.2.
Running from disc takes longer than Ubuntu.
Maybe too much for someone coming in from the cold.
The opensuse install DVD covers pretty much all.

N.B. Ubuntu on my set up can be a pain though.
This applies to dual booting.
Haven't worked out why.
Maybe the controllers/settings aren't best for this approach.

Try Wubi... I've never done it since I install Linux to a separate physical hard disc. From what I have read Wubi seems pretty easy... Done from within Windows.

How about VirtualBox (free and excellent alternative to VMWare)? Install it in Windows and install Linux... I do the opposite... Installed in Linux and am running Windows XP there.

Thanks sith tracy I completely forgot about Virtual Box .
Also I have dual booted so far with Win Vista and Mandriva,Slackware,PCLos and now Ubuntu , Without any problems , Though I know there are a few printers that seem to balk a bit with linux . I always use HP . Since HP cooperates with linux

I know HP cooperates well with linux, but HP has never cooperated with me. I had problems with every printer I had with them and their support is horrible. I like the old tank laser printers (business class), but their home use printers are crap. I've had this Canon PIXMA MP980 a couple of years now and it works well. I am an amateur photographer and it does a great job printing my proofs for review.

I have a HP V40 Officejet that is now about 10 yrs old and still works like a charm . Only problem I have with it is the cost of refills , I can buy another new printer for less than the refills , I did get a Deskjet F4440 which I am using now even though the V40 is still operational , Which I use for faxing since the 4440 doesnt have fax , But Honestly I am very satisfied with both of them , So maybe I was just lucky to get a couple of good ones
