I jumped to a higher multi because previously a bclk above 175 would crash but will try again tomorrows got some big t storms rolling in and should be logging out
thanks again tomorrow 's another day

I was thinking the same thing.smduff wrote:How come you didn't keep the multi @21? Why jump to 24 it makes it harder to see what the chip needs to OC it properly.
Anyways now that ya got it firing @ a 24 Multi lets reduce the VCore again and see if it fires? If so stress test again. Each time it passes the stress test lower the voltage a couple points and try again. This way you will find the lowest voltage needed for the hardware, combined with the multi and BCLK.
Your getting there Peter.

Re: Gigabyte GA-H55N i7-870 on Air OC mini-atx
the only reason I went with a 24x multi with the lightening and storms rolling in was because I wanted to get close to 3.8 that would pass and it did then logged out and went to sleep did not want to experience any power outages which are likely around here with this going on
.. will continue on a bit later after 12 00 CST with both lowering the vcore on 24x as well as 21x > for 3.8G
defintely got hot air on Burn in tests coming out the side of this puppy !

come to think of it there is also an area of the SG07 adjacent to the side with the vid card that the rad and a narrower fan may possibly fit as well. [originally hoped this would work]This way you could just push the air out the vid card side and leave the 180 moving air throughout I would have to take apart the upper fan assembly to show you guys but since we are a bunch of wizards and wizrads around here a mm ruler measuring snappy pic will have ToDo for the time being.

spent a bit time yesterday Monday afternoon with a 21x180 ish & mem at 8x multi shooting for about 3.8 OC can pass Standard Intel burn in but not Max stress Burn In @ 5 passes ...temps peak 61C Vcore 1.256 +- on average
just a little update will work again with 22x and wanted to let you guys know that all your help and advice is not in vain.been doing a bit more reading as well
memory is 9-9-9-24-1 may try 9-9-9-24-2 9-9-9-22-1/2 and see

Keep your ram at stock settings, sounds like you just need to bump up vcore a bit to me.

I t can be as long as you don't go changing so many things at one time, it just makes it impossible to trouble shoot anything specific. Always work on one thing like the CPU OC first then we can look at tightening up timings rather than loosening them.

Re: Gigabyte GA-H55N i7-870 on Air OC mini-atx
Like Duff said it is always easiest to start with one thing usually CPU get it runnin sweet and then move on from there. That is why setting bios defaults can really help. You know where your starting from that way...
Looking forward to seeing what you have accomplished today.
Been out with my accountant all night and all I can say is "It's a wonderful life!"

here is something I just ran 22x177 and passed but with an 8x multi on the ram
going try again stock ram 10 and bump vcore

bump you FSB up to 182 and run the test again don't change anything else.

ok only changed FSB to 182 nothing else
Intel burn in bsod on standard 8 threads
did not touch these were what I had before
Vcore 1.275
Qpi/Vtt 1.21
Dram 1.60

yep these hyperX are 1600mhz and supposed to be 1600mhz @1.65 V never saw 1.65 in cpu z ever
no profile but think they are the culprit with this board ?
will bump vcore up 2 notches do I also need to bump Qpi/Vtt as well to match ?
in the meantime you're the best no matter what joel says

When you get bsod....note the number such as 000000124 and report it here

previous attempts on standard intel bsod info up above
FSB 182
Vcore now 1.325
Qpi/vtt 1.31

Re: Gigabyte GA-H55N i7-870 on Air OC mini-atx
0x124 increase or decrease QPI/VTT first, if not increase or decrease vcore. Test to see which one it is. On i7 45nm, usually means too little VVT/QPI for the speed of Uncore. On i7 32nm SB, usually means too little vCore
you just need to run the test again 124 is not enough juice;)

Re: Gigabyte GA-H55N i7-870 on Air OC mini-atx
STOP:0x00000124 is a QPI error
My limited experience is that the difference between the two voltages of a working setup must be maintained when pushing higher. as this is now hard to do at these core volts you will have to try both a notch higher qpi and a notch lower too.
The core voltage you are quoting is that set voltage or cpu-z reading? because it is the cpu-z one that counts
I would say if you had a running settings before go there again and write down the qpi voltage set and the cpu-z reported core volts at Idle and at load. you will likely see a difference between the qpi and core load of 0.0XXv
When you come back to the faster setting and you up the qpi and voltage try to maintain a similar amount.
This is from recent observation and yet to be proven with a full set of tests
one last thing there ....cpu volts in cpu-z should be the same idle or load if you have set Load line calibration if it still droops try 1 notch higher vcore
I'll stop waffling now

Re: Gigabyte GA-H55N i7-870 on Air OC mini-atx
thanks for all you help today gentlemen much apreciated
attempted to increase the volts in 'tandem' for the higher bclk of 182x22 multi even went with 180 but no go for today's OC session
4 hrs is enough for me at a time
would have gotten back a bit sooner ..thought I would have been stable enough to get a post back to you guys firefox hung with the higher OC before I could test it
i did notice the slight dif all along with my bios setting s and what cpuz spits out
the settings I report here are the bios settings only
the LLC on this board being enabled has been a bsod from anything other than stock
back to what I had earlier 22x 177 or 178 and kept the same volts cause i wrote them down of course
anyhow thanks Mr.Duff & Mr. grumpdaddy & kinda understand most what you were waffling about ..come to think of it I like waffles better than pancakes this morning around here we had java. OJ, bacon could have used some waffles with some eggs on the side
I manage to save some strawberries for Bob when he feels better
so thanks for all your input and catch up with you guys later :
