As tempting as it is , No Intel for me as main CPU baby.
This i7 is more than enough for any needs. I always have the option of removing 6GB of memory and clocking to 4.2ghz or more. So plenty of power.
I have heard word on the other desktop CPU from Intel , the 970x six core beast. Supposed to be £400-£500 mark Q3 this year.
We will see. First my graphics.

Craig, is your board setup to handle the new six core CPU's? maybe it will just be a bios update for you as well!McstylisT wrote:smduff wrote:Yes I will hehe, will you?

I could not be sure on this Joel as it was a pretty new X58 board when they were released.
Though from what I have "read" there is not going to be a big problem with these new six core cpu's and compatibility on any x58 platform. Its a matter of the makers amending the bios's to allow correct compatibility. Though this could be long in the waiting.
If this point comes where i am in this position to buy a six core setup i think prior to buying this i would upgrade the motherboard too. Nothing wrong with the current really , its just it was originally bought for my small form factor build. Its a micro ATX as well but performs sensationally for its size. I like the look of the new Gigabyte UD7 to be honest. This is where my intentions were be if looking to a six core setup.
