@Bob
I'm in upper Northern CA, on the back side of the Sierra Mtn. at approx. 5K Ft.
This morning we have some sun and high winds as the even colder artic air is coming tonight. Since the weekend we've had 3 waves of storms, last night was supposed to be the 3rd one and gave us an additional 4" of snow with a total of 18"
Now we are supposed to have just cold weather until next weekend and start it all over again! (This is unusual for us this early in the year.)
I was just looking at Duff's area and it says he has sun and -20 F and feels like -36 F :help:

Ahh its just cool up here, a whole inch of snow here compared to you though LOL 18" is crazy, I think I can suffer through the chilly weather for less white fluff.

Re: Tuesday
WOW, 18" of snow already. I think I would move south for the winter. Is this the normal amount or just a weird fluke. Keep bundled up and watch the shoveling.

Re: Tuesday
Bob, most unusual. Our first snow is usually now, but only a few inches.
Then come Dec. & Jan. we can get up to 3 ft., but not all at once.
Just finished shoveling again and my back is hurting, but it always does.

Re: Tuesday
I hear ya. I usually do the shoveling myself but last year with all the snow my Son-in-law came by twice with his plow and did my driveway. It is 80' but since it is a gravel drive and the norm is only a couple of inches I never shovel it, only the walk. Here at the shore a couple of inches only stays around for a day or so.
Take it easy on your back (and heart).

Ah Sub zero isn't anything truth be told I haven't even turned the furnace on yet LOL, its still 20c in the house were well insulated up here. The only thing you need to worry about here is draining the outside water lines so they don't burst. last year we didn't fire up the furnace until the middle of December.

Re: Tuesday
Well remodeled the house a few years ago we redid all the exterior walls with 2x6 posts and removed the 2x4 that were there then used spray foam, we also made sure to re-due the attic and put in 20" of that fluffy insulation. It has paid itself off already IMO, our gas bill is next to nothing anymore, it used to be around 300 a month in the winter and 80 in the summer now it just gets shut off all summer long and in the winter it is now around 115 a month. Our house is only 1400sq feet so not to big.

Re: Tuesday
The last time it snowed in Plymouth (UK) everything stopped.
I spent a couple of hours watching drivers who never saw it before together with some that had making a real pigs ear of getting from a to b
It is so rare here that along with most of UK no-one ever heard of winter tyres in fact if we had snow just a little more often I would open a scrap yard :)
