Made some changes to my main PC.

New Corsair 800d case
New Corsair 750HX
New Coolit Vantage ALC (Won from PureOC)
New MSI N460GTX Hawk

As you can see in the picture, the Vantage ALC is a tight fit on the GA-890FXA-UD5 motherboard. Since the 800d is so large and heavy, and the removable filter comes out the back only, I added wheels to make things easier.

Other than a problem with one of the backplanes on the hot swap cage, I love the 800d.

Very nice work Bob!

Looks great and now I may have to look into getting an 800D.

I especially like the large side window panel to see all the "good stuff".

I thought you won a new case?

How are you making out with the E8400?

I did win a case, but that 800D looks way nicer.

I'm at 3.825GHz with a stable Prime95 completed.

I will be attempting to get to 4GHz or more?

On Edit: Now I see why it looks way nicer. I just checked them out and saw how they are made & the pricing. affraid

Bob that is a wonderful looking build my friend! Very clean and tidy inside with the cable management.

Lots of power and great looks, something to be proud of!

Thanks Joel. I had problems with the backplane on a couple of the hot swap positions and just received the replacement boards from Corsair. I hope to get them in over the weekend.

No problem with Corsair support except they don't respond very quickly. I used a link on their forum to get to support and after 4 days received a reply telling me to contact a certain person. I left him a email with the information and after another 4 days received a reply saying that the parts had shipped. I received them the same day. While they took care of the problem it would have been nice to know they were working on it. I also asked for a time frame on the release of sata3 backplanes, but they ignored that question. Oh well at least I have the replacement parts.

Lovely and clean inside that case. Did you have to mod some mounts for the wheels?

Thanks.

Yes, I removed the feet (crossbars) and drilled and mounted the wheels to them. Since the bottom filter comes out the back I needed an easy way to get to it.

That floor fan, where is that drawing air from? Is that a opening gril on the case bottom or is the airflow coming from the PSU. I would be tempted to ask where are the cold cathodes, but it is nice to see a Rig without a gazilion fans and lights, especially those awful looking 200mil + side blowers

There is about a 12" opening on the bottom where the filter is. The PSU pulls through half of it and blows out it's back. To the right of the PSU facing up is a 140m drawing air from the bottom also. And as you see in the one photo there is a 120m for the hard drives and what you don't see is another 140m above that to blow across the hot swap cage. Add to that the 140m exhaust at the rear and the 2 120m push/pull on the rad at the top also exhaust, there is plenty of air flowing through the case.

So the rear 140mil would take the excess from the push/pull as your desired set up?

Happy New Year Tim.

Not really, the rear 140M is the main exhaust for the case. The 2 fans in push/pull on the rad are just for the rad and since they are set to exhaust they don't add any additional heat to the case itself. I'm thinking of adding a Scythe Kaze Master Pro 5.25 fan controller which also has temp probes to see if it is working as I hope it is.

Happy New Year to you too :)

It is refreshing to see a site with peeps that know what they are doing. I don't mean that in a disrespectful fashion, but your build seems perfect. I get a little frustrated when I see and have seen many posts disregarding airflow. One thing though, the CPU cooling aspect. Does your setup mirror a seperate chilled loop from a dedicated rad system? These vapour systems, are they a comparative? I have seen these types of systems slated in the past, however, knowing that some Graphics Cards have used this tech, I guess it has improved against traditional liquid cooling?

Hi Tim,
The CPU cooler is a CoolIt Advantage ALC. The ALC stands for Advanced Liquid Cooling. It is a self contained unit that comes with the CPU block and a 120 rad with one fan. The CPU block has a built in LCD monitor (brain) to control the pump and fan that cools the rad. It also allows me to set different settings. I added a second fan for the push/pull operation. It was a simple install as it is self contained, no reservoir to worry about. I only have the one GTX460 and I'm not into gaming so no need to cool the Graphics Card. It is not as good as "Traditional Liquid Cooling" but I think it is a few notches above the humongous top of the line air coolers.

Take care and have a great day.

Hey. Yeah, the Tuniq Tower for one. I thought AC unit was big enough :D Mind you, taking into account how energy efficient CPU's are now, the days of the two loops and what not, seem to be over. Thinking that when I get around to getting a Phenom, the Graphix won't need a dedicated loop.
Got a twin Swiftec rad with case mounts to use again.

Are you animation/graphix rendering type stuff. Bit of a monstor card for a non game, but then again, having the headroom is always good :) Have a goodun.
